According to the RF Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, domestic oil and gas reserves and production grew significantly in 2025, with 317 solid mineral and hydrocarbon deposits registered with the state balance of mineral reserves of the Russian Federation.
One of the largest discoveries, oil-gas-condensate field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is named after Alexey Kontorovich, the renowned petroleum geologist and founding director of the Institute of Petroleum Geology SB RAS. The field holds 30.3 billion cubic meters of gas, 7 million tons of oil, and 0.4 million tons of condensate.

Academician Alexey E. Kontorovich (January 28, 1934 - October 24, 2023), an outstanding scientist, statesman, mentor and founder-director of the IPGG SB RAS
The positive dynamics in mineral reserve growth in 2025 has been maintained for most types of mineral raw materials, noted Alexander Kozlov, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia.
For reference:
As is reported on the website of the RF Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in Russia, in 2025, owing to efficient domestic exploration, 317 deposits of solid fossil fuels and minerals, and hydrocarbons and were added to the state balance. .
Russian oil and gas reserves and production increased with addition of 41 hydrocarbon deposits, of which 31 are oil deposits.
The largest are the Tolavey gas condensate field in the Yamal–Nenets Autonomous District with confirmed reserves of 54.4 billion cubic meters of gas and 20.4 million tons of condensate, the 49.7-bcm Mezeninskoye gas field in the Krasnoyarsk Territory , and the Alexey Kontorovich field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District with proven reserves totaling 30.3 bcm for gas, 7 mmt for oil, and 0.4 mmt for condensate.
