The event is taking place this week (April, 6-10) at the Karpinsky Russian Geological Research Institute (VSEGEI) in Saint Petersburg. Representatives of the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum SB RAS participate in the session dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Paleontological Society.

On the first day of the session, N.V. Sennikov, DSc (geol.-mineral.) gave a keynote speech marking the 115th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Obut, an outstanding Soviet geologist, paleontologist, and stratigrapher. Nikolay Sennikov also prepared a presentation titled Detailed Ordovician–Silurian Biostratigraphy of the South Siberian Regions: a Key to Modern Paleogeographic Reconstructions and Geodynamic Modeling and participated in the preparation of two reports by his colleagues, namely: by E.V. Lykova, PhD (geol.-mineral.) on the taxonomic diversity of graptolites in the Floian–Dapingian terrigenous deposits of the southern part of the Salair Ridge; and by R.A. Khabibulina on tabulate corals from the stratotype of the Silurian Kuimov Formation located in the area of Tigirek village (Gorny Altai).

Other reports prepared by IPGG SB RAS researchers discuss infrazonal subdivision using Lower Cambrian archaeocyaths from the Krutoy Log fossil site (Batenev Ridge, Altai–Sayan folded area) ( D.A. Tokarev, PhD); and Frasnian conodonts of the genus Caudicriodus from the western Altai–Sayan folded area (N.G. Izokh, PhD).

O.T. Obut, PhD (geol.-mineral.), has prepared report on the conodont index species from Upper Ordovician of the Teletskoye Lakeside, Gorny Altai. She also took part in the preparation of the report by I.E. Komarov, titled New data on Ludlow-aged conodont assemblages from the Pautikha locality (Kuimov Formation, Gorny Altai). Additionally, the program includes a presentation by A.L. Beizel, PhD (geol.-mineral.), on specific features of facies of periglacial formations formed during Pleistocene glacial maxima.

Two reports have been prepared by specialists from the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics (INGG SB RAS) jointly with colleagues from other organizations. For example, D.V. Grazhdankin, DSc (geol.-mineral.), worked on a presentation describing microfossils from the Nemakit-Daldyn horizon (western Anabar Uplift, Siberian Platform) in collaboration with researchers from the Institute of Precambrian Geology and Geochronology (IPGG RAS). Also, the report on the three-stage evolution of the Early Cretaceous Jehol biota in Transbaikalia was prepared by variously affiliated research team including I.N. Kosenko, PhD (geol.-mineral.), V.D. Efremenko, E.B. Pestchevitskaya, PhD (geol.-mineral.), E.K. Metelkin, PhD (geol.-mineral.), O.S. Dzyuba, DSc (geol.-mineral.), and B.N. Shurygin, RAS Corr. Member, from IPGG SB RAS, along with representatives from the Federal Scientific Center for Biodiversity (Far Eastern Branch RAS), and Sobolev Institute of Geology and Mineralogy (IGM SB RAS).
