The International scientific and practical conference on Modern Problems and Their Solutions in the Field of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, and Geoecology started in Tashkent on November 20. The conference is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology (Tashkent).

A wide range of issues, among them highlighting the critical role of geology in the mining industry, finding scientific and practical solutions to current complex real-world problems, as well as questions of innovative development of hydrogeology, engineering geology and geoecology will be discussed at the conference.

The conference languages are Uzbek, Russian, and English. Participants include researchers, academic teaching staff, undergraduate and graduate students representing various research institutes and universities from different countries, including Russia.

Valeria Drebot, PhD (geol.-mineral.), research scientist at the Laboratory of Hydrogeochemistry and Geoecology (Tomsk Branch IPGG SB RAS), will represent the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS at the conference. In her presentation, she will address the problem of using stable isotopes of boron (δ11B) to study its concentrations in groundwaters exposed to salinization, on the example of southeastern Transbaikalia.
