The competencies of IPGG SB RAS have proven to be widely recognized by academia and industry professionals across Russia. Thus, on May 5, Evgeny Ageenkov, PhD (geol.-mineral.), senior researcher at the Geoelectricity Laboratory, spoke at the seminar Current Problems of Geophysics and Ore Geology organized by the Faculty of Geology, Lomonosov Moscow State University.

E.V. Ageenkov

His report on polarizable geoelectric models for aquatic environments, and survey parameters for electrical installations with several spacings is based on numerical simulations and field measurements.

Evgeny Ageenkov presented results of the numerical modeling of transient electromagnetic process using a pulsed electric line for the conditions of aquatic geoelectrics which allowed interpretation of the identified patterns, to understand the relationship between the course of the transient process and the geoelectric conditions existing in the water area

The presentation also describes geoelectric models of conductive polarizable medium based on aquatic electrical prospecting for detection of underwater anomalous objects associated either with subaqueous gas hydrates or secondary epigenetic pyritization or a freshwater reservoir. In addition, the presentation addresses survey parameters using electrical installations for detection of such anomalous objects.

The workshop organizers found the report useful for specialists interested in marine geophysics, in particular, electrical geophysical prospecting methods.

In addition, later in May, E.V. Ageenkov will give a presentation at the workshop organized by Department of Geophysics of Institute of Earth Sciences, St. Petersburg State University.
