Delegation of the A.A. Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has arrived to Northwest University (NWU, Xi'an). The visit takes place within the frames of the scientific cooperation agreement concluded and signed by and between IPGG SB RAS and NWU in September 2024.

At that time, scientists of Northwest University (a public university located in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China) and representatives of the Shaanxi Province government visited Novosibirsk. Now researchers from IPGG SB RAS (Novosibirsk) left for China for a return visit.



The IPGG SB RAS Delegation headed by Anton Duchkov, Deputy Director for Science, includes specialists representing major research directions of the Institute: paleontology, stratigraphy and sedimentology; geophysics; petroleum geology.

A NWU- IPGG SB RAS joint workshop has already taken place, in line with the visit program. The meeting was attended by staff of the NWU Faculty of Geology and NWU College of Urban and Environmental Sciences.

NWU scientists made presentations on various fields of their research and familiarized their Russian colleagues with the latest achievements. In turn, a detailed presentation on the activities and research directions of IPGG SB RAS was made by Anton Duchkov, PhD (phys.-math.), Deputy Director, IPGG SB RAS.






The guests also have been given a splendid opportunity to find out more about and have a look at the NWU laboratories equipped with advanced instrumentation.

Based on results of the work of IPGG‘s delegation, promising topics will be outlined for future research projects to be implemented jointly by researchers from IPGG SB RAS and NWU.





Also, scientists from IPGG SB RAS took part in a large International Conference on Early Life and Environments 2025 being held in Xi'an these days.
