At the workshop on geoelectric methods held recently at IPGG, Denis I. Fadeev, researcher from the Laboratory of Electromagnetic Fields of IPGG SB RAS, made a presentation titled "Development of a shallow depth EM induction sounding device: practical applications, methodology and software".

Actually, the presenter reported some of the materials from his Candidate Sc (PhD) dissertation ( specialty 1.6.9 – geophysics). The scientific supervisor of the PhD candidate is Evgeny V. Balkov, DSc(tech), leading researcher from the Laboratory of Electromagnetic Fields.

D.I. Fadeev speaking at the geoelectrics workshop and demonstrating the Geovizer device designed and developed by him and co–authors.

Denis Fadeev presented "Geovizer", a shallow-depth induction sounding and profiling device. It has already been successfully used in solving object detection tasks for construction and archaeology. The range of its applications may include engineering geology, housing and communal services, and agriculture. Besides its compact size and ergonomic design, Geovizer is characterized by high speed of signal acquisition and easy operability. It also allows conducting measurements on any surface.

In addition, D.I. Fadeev spoke about features and capabilities of the developed software for primary processing of the Geovizer-obtained data.

The presentation aroused great interest among the audience. Colleagues gave him some helpful comments and recommendations. D.I. Fadeev intends to finalize the research work and prepare for his dissertation defense.
