Within the frames of the public workshop of the Laboratory of Precambrian Paleontology and Stratigraphy IPGG SB RAS, the presentation was made by Prof. Zhang Xingliang, head of the group (laboratory) for study of early life and environment, one of three core disciplinary directions (along with continental geology, tectonics and early Earth evolution, and basin-mountain systems and their influence on resources and environment) of the Department of Geology, Northwestern University (Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China).



The workshop was attended by members of the scientific research departments for paleontology, stratigraphy and sedimentology within the petroleum geology division of IPGG SB RAS.

Prof Zhang Xingliang introduced the organizational structure of Department of Geology and the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Early Life and Environment at Northwestern University to the audience. He also gave a brief highlights of his research topics in Proterozoic and Lower Cambrian paleontology.



Scientists from Novosibirsk, in turn, briefed the guest lecturer on the research topics on the Upper Proterozoic and Lower Paleozoic paleontology and stratigraphy implemented at the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS. The meeting ended with a discussion on prospects of cooperation between IPGG SB RAS and Northwestern University.
