На основе многолетних исследований термальных источников на активных вулканах Курило-Камчатского региона определена высокая контрастность составов растворов как по физико-химическим параметрам, так и по концентрациям основных и примесных элементов. Анализ взаимодействия «гидротермальный раствор – вмещающая порода» свидетельствует о сложном многоступенчатом процессе извлечения химических элементов из пород разреза, неоднократном концентрировании некоторых из них и повторном вовлечении в гидротермальный транспорт обогащенных фаций метасоматитов. Геофизические исследования подповерхностного пространства термальных полей позволили выявить их внутреннюю структуру: строение подводящих каналов; зональность среды, обусловленную закономерным распределением гидротермальных растворов с разными параметрами; наличие приповерхностных барьеров, ответственных за фазовое разделение поднимающихся растворов. Объяснение появления аномальных концентраций некоторых химических элементов в растворах термальных источников получено с помощью численного моделирования, которое показало разные пути движения элементов от магматической камеры до поверхности. Проведенное комплексное исследование активных вулканов позволяет построение адекватной модели функционирования вулкано-гидротермальной системы и проливает свет на генезис многих химических элементов, концентрирующихся в разных частях разреза.
