Abstract
It is showed in model experiments that under shockwave loading coal, without intermediate stages, transits to the high-transformed state corresponding to the end of apocatagenesis. This process is accompanied by coal cracking with releasing of hydrocarbon products, the only stable component among which under process conditions is methane. In that case at atomic H/C ratio changing from 0.84 to 0.25 from 1 m3 of coal 390 m3 of methane is formed (maximum estimate). The corresponding Tmax temperature should be not lower than 500 °C.
