The feasibility for carbon dioxide storage in the permafrost of West Siberia has been investigated using geothermal data. Thermal logs from ≈ 500 boreholes were processed to compile a set of maps characterizing the parameters of the permafrost and the related stability zones of CO2 and CH4 hydrates. The low-temperature formations of northern West Siberia can be a good natural sink suitable for safe entrapment and storage of excess CO2. The most efficient way of sequestration will be injecting the gas into rocks below the hydrate stability zone making it sealed under several layers, including a clay cap, the stability zone of CO2 hydrates, and the frozen ground
