Abstract
A parallel algorithm to solve the problem of seismic source location inside a randomly heterogeneous medium is considered. To recover the source position, we propose using information about recorded seismograms on the free surface and the knowledge about the statistical properties of a random medium. This approach requires a solution to a large number of dynamic elasticity problems to simulate seismic wavefields for different statistically equivalent velocity models. This is the most time-consuming part of the solution algorithm. To speed up the calculations, we use a two-level strategy for the parallelization with the help of creating subgroups with the domain decomposition technique inside each group.
