Abstract
A diffuse-interface method for simulating wave fields in saturated elastic porous media is addressed. Wave processes are described by a hyperbolic system of first-order differential equations derived from the theory of thermodynamically consistent systems of conservation laws of continuum mechanics. This unified system of governing equations provides a universal way for the simulation of wave fields in rock samples with sharp interfaces between layers with different elastic/poroelastic petrophysical properties. A good qualitative agreement of numerical calculations with the classical theory of elasticity and Biots model is shown.
