Abstract

Time Reversal Mirror (TRM) method has been used effectively in the reconstruction of various objects, including earthquake sources and small-scale inhomogeneities. However, the underlying physical principle suggests its applicability to a wider range of practical problems. The objective of this study is to develop a TRM-based algorithm for reconstructing the boundaries of large objects such as tunnels. The tunnel boundary reconstruction algorithm was developed using the TRM method, a staggered grid finite difference scheme and PML technique. The algorithm was parallelized by dividing the computed domain into subdomains and using Fortran Coarray technology for inter-process data exchange. Numerical experiments have successfully demonstrated the restoration of tunnel boundaries using the TRM-based algorithm.
