The status of the Edough block, the most easterly in the Maghrib branch of the Mediterranean foldbelt, which lies in the northeast of Algeria, is not clear. Recent data on this region and the work of researchers cast a new light on the problem of the Edough block. The block is a linear swell with NE-SW strike about 40 km. long and as much as 18 km. wide. The Edough crystalline rocks were formed by zonal metamorphism and potassic alkali metasomatism. The Edough block's structure is very much complicated than usually known for. Recent evidences on the tectonic position of Edough block from aerogeophysical survey data have been derived.
