Abstract

The Vendian-Cambrian algoflora provided food resources for the first shell organisms, which showed high rate of diversification throughout the world. Against the background of bacterial and cyanobacterial associations, which crossed the Precambrian boundary, certain members of the divisions Rhodophyta and Chlorophyta are determined with confidence among algae, while the taxonomic position of the majority of the algoflora remains uncertain.
