The Lena-Tunguska province occupies the area over 3370 million sq km in the northern Asia. The province is subdivided into 13 petroleum-bearing areas and contains a number of large and giant oil and gas discoveries concentrated in the central and southern areas. In the first decades of the 21st century, major hydrocarbon production will be carried out in the Nepa-Botuoba, Baykit, and Angara-Lena petroleum areas. The initial recoverable resources amounts to 10.7 billion ton of oil, 27.3 trillion cu m of free gas, 0.9 trillion cu m of associated gas, and 1.5 billion ton of condensate. Free gas from the Lena-Tunguska province contains high concentrations of ethane, propane, butane, condensate, and helium. By 2020, total production in the province should amount to 50-60 million ton of oil, 40-50 billion cu m of gas, and 130 million cu m of helium. Annual export within the same period should reach 25-35 million ton of oil and 20-30 billion cu m of gas. Schemes for the construction of an oil and gas pipeline network to Russia's eastern port on the Pacific coast (Vanino), to China, Korea, and other North-east Asia countries, as well as helium extraction and liquefaction plants, GTL and LNG plants were proposed.
