The European market is the main export direction of the Russian petroleum. The basic resourses for petroleum supply from Russia to the European market are the deposits of West Siberia. Other amount of petroleum arrives to Europe from the European part of Russia (Timano-Pechorskiy and Volgo-Uralskiy oil basins). West Siberia will remain as the basic oil and gas region and source of export petroleum supply to Europe, at simultaneous its growth of production and export from the Caspian region. The export of petroleum to Europe will increase by 2010 up to 219 millions of tons on favorable conditions of economic development of Russia. Such export growth will allow to load main existing and projected transport systems taking into account the growth of petroleum transit in Europe from the Caspian region countries (up to 100 - 120 millions of tons). For increase of export opportunities it is supposed the expansion of carrying capacities of number of existing routes, and also the construction of new export pipelines and terminals. Priority directions of export systems development are: 1) increase of carrying capacities of Baltic pipeline system and terminal in Primorsk city; 2) construction of petroleum pipeline from West Siberia to the Kola peninsula and building there petroleum terminal in the region of Murmansk city; 3) increase of carrying capacities of terminals in Novorossiysk and in Butinge (Lithuania) cities; 4) integration oil pipeline systems of Central and East Europe. The top-priority project is the joining up of two pipeline systems - "Druzba" and "Adria". One of the export expansion directions of the Russian petroleum passing over the Turkish straits is the construction of oil pipeline from Burgas (Bulgaria) to Alecsondropolis (Greece), which will connect the coasts of Black and Aegean seas. Thus, in the long term European market will be priority for Russia. The growth of petroleum production in Russia, first of all in West Siberia and increase of export capacities will allow Russia to remain as one of the reliable suppliers of petroleum materials in European direction. The transit of petroleum on the Russian territory from the Caspian region will be increased, for this purpose Russia plans the construction of new oil pipelines and terminals, and also increase of carrying capacities of existing pipelines.
