Аннотация

We suggest solving the two-point ray tracing problem for a 3D medium using the bending method, which considers the band-limited nature of real seismic signals. It is based on a modified Fermat's principle. As a result, one may obtain more reliable ray paths and traveltimes in complex mediums. Chebyshev polynomials for model parameterization provide considerable algorithmic advantages for the two-point ray tracing based on the bending method because traveltimes and their derivatives with respect to ray parameters can be calculated analytically. Hence nonlinear conjugate gradient method can be applied efficiently for ray computation. 3D numerical experiments prove the efficiency of the proposed approach.
