Discussion about the age of the Kalar massif anorthosite of the Aldan-Stanovoy Shield - Late Archean or Early Proterozoic - has been going on for decades. The dating resulting in this study confirms the second point of view. Ancient age values of 2649±29 Ma characterize xenogenic zircons, captured from the accommodating rocks, and the young 1847±29 Ma - the process of the formation of large masses of anorthosites and consolidation of the Proterozoic stage of the tectonic melange zone in the articulation of the West Aldan and Tyndinsky composite terrains.
