The paper discusses possible reasons for reduced thickness of salts in the Lower Cambrian deposits in the western part of the Siberian Platform. The main reason seems to be dissolution of salts followed by their transport by the waters heated by trap intrusions to colder parts of the section. The same processes are responsible for salinization of rock collectors over separate areas in the west of the Siberian Platform and reduced thickness of salt-saturated units of the Lower-Cambrian section.
