New U-Pb data confirms the Aptian age (120 Ma) for the emplacement of the Tarbagannakh granitoids and quartz monzodiorites with rapakivi structure in the Allakh-Yun tectonic zone. The diversity in composition of the igneous rocks of the Tarbagannakh pluton, the geochemical features identified, as well as the Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr isotope characteristics, confirm their mixed magmatic source, which was upper crust with input from an enriched mantle component (EM II). These intrusions formed in an active continental margin setting following the breakup or otherwise failure of the oceanic plate slab in the Aptian age.
