We formulate constitutive laws for micro-polar visco-plastic fluids which support yield stresses. The material is shown to be a generalization of Bingham and Herschel-Bulkley fluids in which local micro-rotations are taken into account. In contrast to the classical visco-plastic fluids, micro-polar visco-plastic fluids support two types of plug zones. To illustrate the derived equations, we consider a pressure driven flow between two parallel planes.
