Based on gravimetry and seismic data is the analysis of general nature of Neogene deposits distribution in the lower half of the Earth's Crust with respect to thickness and density. Principal conclusions are drawn: 1) Technically North Sakhalin is a later depression whose dimensions are not confined to the area of North Sakhalin platform. 2) General trend in the evolution of the Earth's Crust in Neogene resulting in reduction of its thickness with reworking of some of the "granitic" beds to "basaltic"
