Аннотация
Speaking of the Academy's history, I would like to say that, naturally, there is no question of an emperor's invention. Peter the Great worked out his idea in his correspondence with G.W. Leibniz. That is a universally known fact. Today, an attempt is being made to undermine something created in the 18th century. Furthermore, L. Euler wrote then that the system of financing the Academy in Russia was the best that existed in Europe at that time. Yet now bureaucratic embezzlers are trying to tear down that which has been the pride of Russian science for three centuries. I am sure that we will be able to resist it. Russian science must be kept intact and forward-looking.
