Аннотация

The results of the geothermal research carried out in Siberia and other geological and geophysical data were employed to calculate the lithosphere temperature and its thickness. The methods of calculation are discribed. It is shown that within the limits of the Earth's crust the temperature is a function of the heat flow value. The schematic maps of the temperature at the Moho boundary and the lithosphere thickness are presented and discussed. The Moho boundary is not isothermal. Its temperature can vary from 200-300 degrees-C (probably even higher) in the Baikal rift zone and mountainous areas of East Siberia. The lithosphere thickness in Siberia decreases when crossing from the ancient Siberian platform to the tectonically younger areas. Within the limits of Siberian platform the lithosphere thickness is more than 200 km and sometimes it cannot be detected by geothermal data. In the young areas (for example, Baikal rift zone) the lithosphere thickness is equal to the Earth's crust or somewhat more than that.
