Аннотация

The information research complex (IRC) for biostratigraphic studies BIOCHRON is designed. The main purposes of the BIOCHRON are: (1) to organize in form of the database paleontological data of global character (selected fossil groups from species (subspecies) to higher taxonomic levels) along with the data on distribution of these organisms in specific Siberian sections; (2) to develop specialized software enabling rationally pack and store extensive and diverse paleontological, lithological, and sedimentary information and to provide a user with convenient access interface; (3) to combine the database with standard data analysis tools, as well as with new algorithms developed for particular problems of biostratigraphy, zonal biochronology, paleoecology, and intercontinental paleobiogeography with elements of geodynamics. The IRC comprises three main components: TAXON, STRATON, and Data Analysis System (DAS) linked by a global menu bar, which is accessible from any mode of operations and permits connection to additional subsystems. The BIOCHRON operates in two modes: information and research. The information mode provides various methods of retrieval of paleontological and stratigraphical information, reference information on various geochronological scales, and bibliographical information. The research mode is based on the Data Analysis System. The latter formalize, and perform main operations, common in biostratigraphic studies (analysis of taxonomic diversity of organisms; study of spatial and temporal changes of their associations; determining age of rocks; study of biofacial and paleobiogeographical zonation; etc.).
