Аннотация

Increased complexity of resistivity instruments (multi-component, multi-frequency, multi-spacing) raises the importance of having a scientifically sound technique for estimating the sensitivity of the instrument responses to the parameters of interest. The main purposes of using such a technique are the objective selection of the optimal instrument configuration targeted to a specific application, and the estimation of the uncertainty in the determination of the model parameters. We have developed a sensitivity analysis method that is quite general, yet flexible enough to allow users to account for instrument-specific features. For example, in logging while drilling, where telemetry bandwidth restricts real-time data transmission to the surface to a small subset of the data acquired, the method permits optimal signal selection using pre-job available information. Another important feature of our method is the ability to quantify the uncertainty in evaluation of the earth model and well-placement parameters: formation resistivity, formation dip and azimuth, and the distance-to-bed. In reservoir navigation, reliable real-time determination of these parameters is critical for staying in the targeted reservoir. Sensitivity analysis requires the user to specify a model in which the measurements are acquired or the determination of the model parameters.
